This is good overall information on brain fitness. It seems to me that some of the principles of brain fitness don't change, but the book could use some updated reviews of research. There is a lot of good information and it covers many different aspects of brain health and fitness. Many references are included for further reading, many of those references are available online. I didn't pay a lot for the Kindle version and the price was fair considering the above.

This is a great starting point for anyone interested in Brain Fitness. What's great about this book is if you know you need help, example, you keep losing your keys or forgetting what you walk into the kitchen for; perhaps you know what you want to say but just stutter, . . . this book will give you the information you need to figure out what programs will help you treat that. I personally, recently complete the POSIT FITNESS Auditory Learning system. I am 47 years old and after some health issues noticed I wasn't able to find words for my thoughts. I was saying "Ugh" alot. After completing the program I have DEFINITELY noticed a change in my communications. The problem has completely disappeared and I am actually impressed at how well I can illustrate thoughts. POSIT FITNESS Auditory Learning system rated among the highest programs reviewed in the book but get the book anyway, it's very informative with some exciting information for those who are concerned about contracting altzeheimer's.

This book advertised way more than it provided. The interviews with the scientists contained in this book were basically segues into a marketing brochure for the scientists' expensive commercial brain-training software. Most of this software is only superficially-researched or lightly-proven to work.There were some useful ideas for those who are unfamiliar with attention training, such as mindfulness meditation. However, Jon Kabat-Zinn's work is far more in-depth and research-based than what these authors present, and JKZ started his research 30 years ago.In summary, I say that readers would be better-served by doing PubMed searches on "working memory," "attention training," etc, and buying a stress reduction book by Jon Kabat-Zinn.And exercise and eat well and all the stuff you already know you should be doing anyway.

I have had a very positive response from seniors who read the book as part of a course focused on an overview of Brain Fitness. The book was most helpful in learning how to alter one's lifestyle to improve cognitive functions. Information about the available brain fitness computer products helped each individual select the one that fit their lifestyle. Still reading this book, but appreciate that they are synthesizing a lot of what's "out there" in popular and academic press, and recommending ways to keep the brain in shape

I've read over 100 books on personal growth, leadership, motivation, increasing my potential, and so I've come to accept that most books are rehashed material.But this book was a breath of fresh air. It had very interesting content I never heard of, plus insights and practical strategies from some of the leading minds of "brain science".I don't recommend a lot of books, but this is in my top 10.

Book was just a sales presentation of why you should buy their other products. It did not provide any analytical or learning experience for me. Just what you should buy next.
