For those whippersnappers or folks that don't get the cultural reference, Rat and Stacey were two characters in Fast Times At Ridgemont High. They had this romance that went very slow. They had great rapport, but the romance consisted of looks and hand-holding. At the end of the movie, a post-script is given on all the characters' lives a considerable time later -- "Rat and Stacey, having a passionate affair...still haven't gone all the way."Don't misunderstand me, I know this is a YA book. I get it that we're not going to see sexual intimacy. I don't have a problem with that. But I was 35% through the book -- would it be possible for SOMETHING to happen? It took that long for Maiken to decide whether he was taking the job! Is he going to play baketball? The world may never know. I spent two hours just to get to this point, I don't think I want to spend any more time.I wanted to like this book. I liked it that Quinn came from farmer folk. Not something that you see every day in a YA novel. But Hay-Zeus! Her overbearing brothers make it likely a long, frustrating haul before the girl will ever get to do anything besides work on the farm! And they call her shy, but where I come from, someone who stutters that much would have attracted enough attention by that age to be sent to speech therapy. Perhaps Quinn eventually grew a backbone, put on her big-girl panties, moved her brothers out of the way, kicked that snotty Tessa's butt, and rode off into the sunset with Maiken...But I didn't want to read till my next birthday to find out.

Well I have been dying to read this book since the announcement of a Maxwell boys spinoff series. I can definitely say it was worth the wait!!! S. B. Alexander does not disappoint. Her characters are so well written, and you can’t help but like the two main characters. I just wish there was a little more romance between them, but maybe we have to wait for book two for things to build more. She wrote in the perfect “mean” characters! If I could have reached into my kindle and slapped them, I definitely would have!! The parents, the siblings, everyone was so interesting. Then seeing Kade Maxwell so involved, i kept thinking what a great dad he’s going to be! We even had a few scenes with Lacey!The pace moved right along, i never found myself getting bored. Just the opposite, I didn’t want to put it down, especially once i really got into the story. I think the overall plot was very relatable to young adults that age. The shyness, dealing with loss, bullying, pressure in school, etc. But I’m interested to see where the storyline picks up next. How much more bullying can kids take before they stand up and....what? I’m wondering what will happen next?? I’m very excited to read the next book and find out!!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to anyone who enjoys YA Romance!!! S. B. Alexander is a phenomenal writer and you won’t be disappointed!!

First off I loved this book. Loved that it’s YA. And a YA I’ll let me girls read :)This book keeps you entertained through the whole book. It keeps you wanting to turn the pages. The ending makes you wish the next book was available already.I love Maiken. He’s a great character. I loved watching him grow in this book and I know he’s only going to get better with the next couple books!Quinn is the shy girl. She tries to stay out of the spotlight but that isn’t always easy when people have put a target on your back. But Quinn is strong and determined to not let people drag her down.I really hope that Liam and Celia get a book!! Carter too I guess even though he’s really protective. I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens next!

True to Susan's heart, she writes the first book in a new series with her unique ability and care. Young love blossoms slowly but it feels like the kind of love that will mature and grow with Quin and Maiken . It was awesome to see Kade and some of his family, being they're cousins of Maiken. I hope Susan continues to keep this line of writing going for a LONG time! I, for one, will always buy every single book she writes because they pull you in and take you to a time where love of family is everything. I like that they're clean books. Thank you once again, Susan. Job well done!

Wow this book was everything! I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t stop reading it, got hooked from the very beginning. It’s an amazing YA spinoff of the Maxwell series, following the Maxwell’s cousins. First up in the new series is Maiken Maxwell. Gorgeous high school basketball player meets nerdy shy farm girl. The storyline was awesome, kept you interested and reading. I loved seeing Kade and the other Maxwells make their appearance in this book. I cannot wait for book 2! Highly recommend this book!!!!

This author is one of my auto one clicks. She is amazing and she did it again. *spoiler* I know I would want t know this. This couple will go beyond this book. So the story does not end at the end of the book. Which is great because I need to know more 😊 Maiken and Quinn are a sweet couple and I’m hoping to see more of Quinn’s back bone in the next book. Plus we got to see more or Malik and Lacy! Get the book! You won’t be disappointed

I loved this book I am routing for Quinn and Maiken all the way this book was a great read from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next one. Does Quinn stand up against Tessa will Chase leave Quinn alone or will he become more of a problem for Maiken? So many questions can’t wait
