Almost as soon as I had listened to the soundtrack for the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" film, I wanted to get my hands on the sheet music, both to sing and to play. While it is a nice collection overall, with classic Alan Menken music, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice lyrics, and some nice photos from the live-action film, I have several reservations.For the good, it's great to have the three new songs by Alan Menken and Tim Rice, "Days in the Sun," "Evermore," and "How Does A Moment Last Forever," as well as Menken's fresh new arrangements of the classic songs we've all grown to love from the 1991 animated film. They're all playable with practice, and while I can't help feeling like they lose something in their translation from orchestra and voice to piano, it doesn't diminish the songs themselves.That being said, in regards to the arrangements of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Evermore," they are NOT the same as what you hear in the live-action film. The former is a transcription of the Ariana Grande/John Legend duet, not the beautiful new waltz-time arrangement sung by Emma Thompson, and, apart from being very pop-oriented, is set in a different key. The latter, "Evermore," which is my personal favorite, is beautiful, but is in the key of A Major, which corresponds with Josh Groban's cover, not A flat Major, as performed by Dan Stevens in the film and the backing track on the recently-released karaoke CD. The inclusion of the cover versions instead of those actually heard in the film is disappointing; I would have willingly paid more to have both versions included.All in all, it is a great collection regardless, whether you're a longtime "Beauty and the Beast" fan, or discovering it for the first time, if slightly disappointing.

Not very well made for singers, songs are very high and require crazy vocal ranges. Like Gaston sings a tenor high B. Lumiere has a "range" of D2/ really low bass D all the way up to tenor high A. Piano transcriptions are great though. Just I wish the songs were put in easier keys.Evermore is on the Josh Groban version which is in A major, the original is in Ab.

I just bought a new Fire Tablet and wanted to try out plying piano with it. SUCCESS! The music was formatted exactly the way I like it: Melody line, lyrics and chords. There's an arrangement for the left hand, too but I don't use that. My only complaint deals with the pagination on the Kindle. The book title appears on the top of every page instead of the song title. The song title is stuck at the bottom of the page preceding the song. It makes it difficult to skim through the book. But I highly recommend this book. Most of the songs are written in a reasonable key (3 or fewer flats/ sharps) There is only one song with four sharps in the key signature, but it modulates to the key of C halfway through. So I just play the second half. I wish all comments about music books would mention whether the chords are printed and if the songs are arranged in difficult keys. I've found most of the Disney songbooks dedicated to one movie were disappointing in this regard (no chords printed or difficult key selection). I took a chance and I am very happy with this book. Update: I take some of it back. If the songs were arranged in the keys of C, F or G the melody lines would be a lot easier to play. Some of the melody lines had many notes well below middle C, which made it awkward to improvise a left hand. I still give it 5 stars.

I love the fact that this book includes all the songs from the film. And what I love even more is the fact that they're all unique arrangements that match those in the movie, instead of the arrangements from the original 1991 film. It feels very fresh and cohesive, which I really appreciate. They're arrangements are at a comfortably intermediate level, so I can play all of them without too much practice. Definitely worth having in addition to the original 1991 arrangements.

My grandson, Seth, loves it. He had been fingering a song from this movie making some headway, but now he has the music itself and is totally excited playing from it. This book provides most of the songs from the movie.

Beautiful photos in the book and the songs are great. I'm not an accomplished pianist yet but for someone who it, I would say the pieces would be easy to play.

The music is great but I wish they wouldn've included the reprises of "How Does a Moment Last Forever" (sung by Belle and her father) because I appreciated the simplicity of those arrangements. I do have to say that the binding stinks. Been playing through the music for three days and the pages are already falling out. Seriously, why do they continue attempting to publish sheet music books with this binding! It's not functional for sitting on a music stand--the pages won't stay open at all. We have to crease the pages to death which decreases the integrity of the binding. I know, know--it has always been that way. But surely they can find a way to bind sheet music in a book that's more functional (without having to resort to spiral binding). My regular reading books stay together better than this and I've been reading through them for years!

Granddaughter was excited to receive this for Christmas. What's not to like about Beauty and the Beast?!
